Murcia Welcomes You was created to solve a simple but persistent problem: arriving in a new city is easy, but truly feeling part of it is not.
After participating in several international mobility programmes, we noticed a recurring gap. Students and young professionals were arriving in Murcia with excitement, but without clear spaces to connect beyond formal institutions.
Murcia Welcomes You began as a grassroots response to that gap. Small activities, open invitations, and a focus on people rather than performance. The city itself became the meeting point.
The project was created by Asensio Sabater, a student of International Relations at the University of Murcia, with a simple belief: that a city opens up when the right people show you around.

We focus on shared experiences, not forced networking. Belonging happens naturally when people feel comfortable.
You don't need to know anyone or commit long-term. You can join one activity and already feel welcome.
Murcia is not a backdrop. The city, its nature and its culture are active parts of every experience.
Real words from people who joined and stayed.
MWY completely changed my Erasmus. I made real friendships and had unforgettable moments โ I even came back to Murcia later just to meet the organiser for tapas.

A friend recommended the community and I loved it so much that I barely missed a single event. The atmosphere always felt genuine.

The organisers speak multiple languages and make it genuinely easy to connect with international people. I'd join again without hesitating.

I discovered MWY during my Erasmus and liked it so much I stayed in Murcia for four years. I even became a volunteer. It genuinely changed my life.

What started as a personal observation has grown into a shared space. Murcia Welcomes You is not about scale or visibility โ it is about continuity, care and creating moments that make people feel less alone in a new place.
